We had not been to a Long Island Ducks game in several years. That changed this past Saturday, as we headed to Bethpage Ballpark, "The Duck Pond."

An entire section dedicated to handicapped parking is located very close to the West Gate Ramp and entrance.  Non-handicapped parking is a bit away, but under shade canopies, a nice touch if it is a hot summer day.  If needed, passengers can be dropped off before you park.

Access is easy.  There are concrete ramps as well as steps. Once your  tickets are checked,  you are on the main level of this 6,000 seat park. Taking a walk from one end of the concourse to the other gives you an idea of all that is offered, from a wide variety of food and drink,  to a variety of activities for the kids($)  and the Waddle In Shop, for Duck items. There is even a booth with a Ducks' player signing autographs! How cool is that?

Getting to our seats was easy. The steps down each aisle are wide, with a low rise. There are handrails as well. Wheelchair and handicapped seating is plentiful.

As I had remembered from previous visits, this is a family affair!   Scout troops and other kids' organizations are incorporated into the festivities.   During the game there are kids' games between each inning: tricycle racing,  wrestling, chair Frisbee, to name a few. I am not sure how the kids get chosen for these activities, but if it is something your young fan might be interested in, call and find out.  The team mascot, "Qucker Jack" is ever present.  What fun!

T-shirt giveaways, fireworks and all sorts of things seem to be going on at different games.  If you are not particular about what team you see the Ducks play against, you might want to check out what "extras" are going on at a particular game.  Ours was fireworks !!! This is an affordable, family friendly experience, and a great way to introduce young kids to baseball.  I love this place, especially how happy eveyone seems to be.

Multi-stall, handicapped-accessible restrooms are conveniently located on the main level. A single-occupancy, handicapped-accessible, family restroom, is located near the Customer Service Booth.

As always, we at Destination:Accessible advise you to check a venue's website, www.liducks.com, when planning a visit, to "know before you go."
